Outshining The Common LCDHow often have you had to find a shady spot to read your cell phone or PDA's screen? It's because conventional LCD's only reflect about 20% of the available light to the viewer.
Datasave displays avoid this problem by utilizing the unique optical properties of cholesteric liquid crystals. Cholesteric fluid itself it highly reflective, and each LCD cell that contains it acts as a tiny mirror. These are highly effective at reflecting ambient light and make the sign's image stay bright and clear, even in direct sunlight. Testing has shown that a Datasave display is two or three times brighter than conventional TN or STN LCD displays. It reflects up to 60% of the incident light, which is equal to any other reflecting display technology currently in use. (By way of comparision, newspaper reflects 70% of incident light.) And, the image stays clear even when the sign is viewed at oblique angles; cholesteric liquid crystals don't require the light-absorbing polarizers which make ordinary LCD displays unreadable under the same conditions. |
